Gary & Sandra Gary & Sandra

Lead Pastor

Gary has been at Evangel since August of 2001.  Prior to coming to Thunder Bay, Gary and his wife, Sandra served for 16 years as Youth Pastor and Lead Pastor of churches in British Columbia.  They also spent a year as Assistant Pastor of a church in Winnipeg, Manitoba.  In 1999-2000, Gary and Sandra, along with their two daughters, worked in Zambia as missionaries with the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada, teaching at Trans-Africa Theological College and travelling to various parts of southern Africa.

Gary grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba and remains a devoted fan of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and loyal diehard for the return of the Winnipeg Jets from exile in Phoenix!  He is also known to tell lots of jokes about the Toronto Maple Leafs (not hard to do!).  He has a Master of Divinity degree from Regent College in Vancouver, British Columbia, as well as a Bachelor of Theology from Central Pentecostal College (now Horizon College & Seminary) in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Gary and Sandra have a great passion for worship, missions and evangelism, particularly to kids!  Sandra is the Director of our Sunday morning kidZone here at Evangel.  They both love music and desire to lead people into God's presence through vibrant and passionate worship.  They are committed to spreading the Good News of Jesus to Thunder Bay and building a dynamic church that embraces people with God's love.  Their determination is lead a church with a zeal to reach out to the world and a heart to be world-changers for God.

Jeff Andrews

Jeff & Kristina Jeff & Kristina

Young Adults and Campus Pastor

Jeff is Northern Ontario-born and bred, so Thunder Bay is a great natural home for him!  He has been on staff here at Evangel since September of 2007.

In his work with the Church, Jeff's primary focus is upon our Young Adult group, known as "The Village."  He also has the challenge of developing effective ministry to the campus and students of Lakehead University, which is located directly behind Evangel.  In addition, he tackles other responsibilities in music and preaching.

Jeff grew up in Espanola, Ontario and started out as an environmental inspector after training at "Blank College" in Sudbury, Ontario.  Several years into that, and after marrying his wife, Kristina, and having three kids, Jeff took his family to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, where he commenced studies at Central Pentecostal College (now Horizon College & Seminary) in order to be trained as a pastor.

Following graduation, Jeff served as pastor in three churches, first in Manitoba, and then in Ontario and Nova Scotia.  In addition to his pastoral experience, Jeff brings a passion for relevant ministry that engages the culture.  He tries to stay up to date on the emerging church and thought-provoking teaching for the younger generations.  Kristina shares that passion for younger generations through her involvement with our mid-week girls club and our Worship Team.

A true-blue Ontarian, Jeff cheers for theToronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Argonauts.  As a northern Ontarian, he also loves guns, knives and anything else that will land some wild meat on the table for supper!

Louise Heyer

Clarence & Louise Clarence & Louise

Discipleship Pastor

Bio: Louise has been at Evangel since 1999 and has served on the pastoral staff since 2004.  She and her husband, Clarence, came to Thunder Bay after 9 years as missionaries in Angola with Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF), with whom Clarence served as a missionary pilot.  Prior to that, they worked for several years with a mission in Pickle Lake, Ontario, with Clarence again serving that northern region and the mission as the local pilot.  They have two daughters, both in the 20's.

Both Louise and Clarence are graduates of Central Pentecostal College (now Horizon College & Seminary) in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.  They have also served as pastors of a church in Fort Simpson, Northwest Territories, where they ministered for 4 years.  Following their time in the NWT, they lived in Dundern, Saskatchewan, while Clarence trained to be a pilot.

Currently, Louise's responsibilities are on general pastoral care.  Having led out Youth Group here at Evangel for 3 1/2 years, she and Clarence are preparing for a second missionary stint with MAF.  Louise is a passionate leader and a gifted speaker.  Of course, she and Clarence have a great heart for missions.  In fact, Clarence is the Chair of Evangel's Missions Committee!  Together, they have a deep desire to serve God to the fullest extent of their ability.  Louise is an awesome teacher and a zealous prayer-warrior who longs to see the people of God grow to their full potential in Him.
