A Summary of our Beliefs
We believe ...
- that the Bible, while written by human beings, was inspired by God, and has proven itself to be without error (2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:20-21)
- in one true God who has revealed Himself to humanity as Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Ephesians 4:4-6, 2 Corinthians 5:19)
- that Jesus Christ is 100% divine and 100% human at the same time, and that he was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, freely offered up his own life to die for the sins of humanity, physically rose from the dead and ascended to heaven (Luke 1:26-35; John 1:1,14; Acts 2:22-33; 2 Corinthians 15:2)
- that we, as sinful human beings can be saved from eternal separation from God, not because of any good actions on our part, but purely by God's grace through our faith in Jesus Christ and his death on the cross for us (Ephesians 1:7; Colossians 1:14)
- that believers in Jesus Christ, according to his command, should be baptized in water by immersion (Matthew 28:19)
- that we, according to the command of Jesus, should regularly celebrate communion (or, the Eucharist) as a rememberance of the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross for us (1 Corinthians 1:23-26)
- that believers in Jesus Christ should seek to be "baptized" in the Holy Spirit with the initial, physical sign of "speaking in tongues" (Acts 2:4; 10:44-47; 19:1-6)
- that the Holy Spirit gives spiritual gifts to believers today to use for the benefit of the Body of Christ (Romans 12:3-8, 1 Corinthians 12-14; Ephesians 4:11-13)
- that God continues to heal people today both physically and spiritually, just as he did in the life of the Early Church (Mark 16:17-18; James 5:14)
- that believers today should live lives of holiness before the Lord, and a Spirit-filled life that demonstrates healthy distinction from the rest of the world (Galatians 5:22-25; Ephesians 1:13-14; 1 John 2:15-17)
- that Jesus Christ is coming again in a personal, visible return to reign forever and ever (1 Thessalonians 4:4-17; Acts 1:11)
- that every person faces a choice of eternal life through faith in Jesus, or eternal punishment and separation from God by not choosing to follow Jesus (John 3:16; 10-27; Revelation 21:6-8)
