AIMEE HEYER

Tchincombe Ranch, Angola

Aimee comes from a fine Christian family right here at Evangel in Thunder Bay.  In fact, her mom, Louise, is on our pastoral staff, so you know her family has to be pretty great!  She spent about eight of her formative years on the mission field with her parents, and those years made a lasting impression.  She is now engaged in missions work right back where she spent those years ... in the African nation of Angola!

Aimee is engaged in some unusual missions work.  A significant portion of her energies are spent working with horses!  She's a part of a long-standing and effective Christian ranch community in Angola known as Fazenda Tchincombe (Tchincombe Ranch).  It's an Agricultural Training Centre that combats famine and disease through training about crop management, animal husbandry and basic personal health care.

Aimee's particular focus is the Ranch's fledgling equine program.  Her responsibilities involve building this area of the Ranch to a point where internships can be offered in horse management and training can be provided to local workers in order to give them a vocation employable skills.  This work with horses is also expected to provide opportunities to build relationships and give opportunity to share Christ with those in these programs.

Aimee is also involved in a varieity of youth work in Angola.  She is working with a local church to develops a youth and Christian Education program to minister to kids of various ages.  Aimee's desire is also to do some work to increase levels of literacy among the people in the area.
